Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Guardians & Students,

We will not be implementing Final Exams this year, but we will be recording a grade for the Final Exam score. Your grade for the final exam will be based on the grades you earn for each of the four nine-week periods. The grades are Alpha in nature, which means letter grade; A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1 and an F=0. The four letter grades will be averaged and that average will determine your exam grade.

The reason for the adjustment is due to a consensus among staff and the administration that your grade for a course should be primarily based on grades achieved while school was in session. With this format 75% of the grade is based on the aforementioned premise. The grades achieved on-line, or under the distance learning platform will be mitigated and represent only 25% of the final grade.

In addition, staff members and I felt it would be difficult and perhaps inequitable to prepare and implement a comprehensive exam for students under these circumstances. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Best Regards, Tony DeFelice High School Principal
